– As he did last year, Dick Clark will co-host the annual “New Year’s Rockin’ Eve.” The former “American Bandstand” host, now 76, will join Ryan Seacrest and musical guest Christina Aguilera to ring in 2007 before a national TV audience of millions. Clark missed the show two years ago when he suffered a stroke but returned to the holiday staple last New Year’s Eve.

– While promoting “Babel,” a new movie in which his character gets in trouble with U.S. immigration authorities, Gael Garcia Bernal criticized the newly approved U.S.-Mexico border fence as “absurd.” “They are wasting so much money on this instead of using it on a real development plan,” the star of “Y Tu Mama Tambien” and “The Motorcycle Diaries” said on Thursday. “It was argued before that the wall was to secure the borders after Sept. 11,” he added, “but [the terrorists] weren’t Mexican, they didn’t even pass through Mexico.”

– “American Idol” runner-up Clay Aiken is about to enter a world of back-stabbing, scandal and diva fits. He’s taping an appearance on NBC’s “Days of Our Lives.” Aiken will perform two songs for a private concert for Steve (Stephen Nichols) and Kayla (Mary Beth Evans). The episode is scheduled to air Dec. 22.
