In his Oct. 23 letter to the editor, E.J. McNally takes issue with the hype regarding Barack Obama. Why all the hype? Have you listened to anything Obama has said? I have. A lot of people have been listening and we like what we hear.
Can you imagine having a president who actually values and listens to the other party?
Can you imagine a president truly interested in the middle class?
A lot has been said about Obama’s lack of foreign policy experience. Look at President Bush when he took office. He wasn’t exactly swimming in foreign policy expertise. All he had was a dogmatic, unilateral, inflexible view of the world, and that’s exactly what we’ve gotten–and it hasn’t worked.
Can you imagine a foreign policy based on actual policy instead of ideology? Imagine a president with an open-minded world view, leading by working with people instead of fear-mongering.
Why the hype? Obama is intelligent, thoughtful, hopeful, respectful and inspiring. He represents everything that’s been missing from the White House for six long years.
That’s why the hype, Mr. McNally.
