Leonard Gelfand, D.D.S., age 95, in service to his country as captain during WWII, in practice as a dentist for over 50 years in Chicago at his Devon and Western Avenues office. Beloved husband of the late Trudy; loving father of Sandi (Nat) Gershman and Ruth (Ron) Buchanan; cherished grandfather of Brad (Lisa) Buchanan, Lisa (Doug) Weiser and Neil (Cheryl) Gershman; great-grandfather of Jacob, Rachel and Wyatt; dear brother of the late Florence (Marty) Demar. Also survived by his nieces and nephews. A tireless volunteer, actively involved in many professional and community organizations and a dear friend to many. Graveside services Tuesday, Oct. 31, 2006, 11:30 a.m. at Westlawn Cemetery (Gardenia Section), 7801 W. Montrose, Chicago.
