I am amazed that for the second gubernatorial election in a row, neither of the two major political parties in the state of Illinois, after months and months of self-analysis, untold sums of money spent on political consultants and voter surveys, and the presence of a vast pool of highly capable and credible Illinois citizens who are eligible for the office, could come up with a candidate who won’t cause me to hold my nose when I go to the polls next week. Actually I’m not amazed. I think the right word is depressed.
