Hollywood’s golden couple looks to be splitting up.
Reese Witherspoon and Ryan Phillippe, who married in 1999 and have two children, 7-year-old Ava and 3-year-old Deacon, have formally separated, according to a statement issued Monday by their publicist, Nanci Ryder.
“They remain committed to their family, and we ask that you please respect their privacy and the safety of their children at this time,” the statement said. Ryder said she could not elaborate on the split.
Recently, Phillippe told the L.A. Times it didn’t bother him that his wife is the bigger star.
“I’m the least competitive person you’d ever meet,” he said. “She is great at what she does and has a great career, and my career is solid. I am proud of her.”
