Once students get past the whopping cost of college tuition, they have to clear another financial hurdle: textbooks. A College Board report estimates that students at public four-year colleges will spend $942 on books and supplies this school year, according to the L.A. Times. Rising prices are prompting students to find ways to save money. Here are the findings of a fall 2005 National Association of College Stores survey:
65%
Didn’t buy all required textbooks.
45%
Bought at least one textbook online.
14%
Photocopied books or other materials sold by publishers.
