Vols’ Parker dunks again
Tennessee’s Candace Parker dunked for the third time in her career Sunday when the Naperville native got her slam in the Lady Vols’ 102-72 season-opening victory over Chattanooga. She made history in last year’s NCAA Tournament by dunking twice against Army and is the fourth woman to dunk in a college game.
It’s No. 1 vs. No. 2
A wild week in which three of the top five teams lost shook up the college football rankings, but No. 1 Ohio State and No. 2 Michigan held on. The Buckeyes (11-0) and Wolverines (11-0) play Saturday at Ohio State for a spot in the national title game. The rest of the top five: Florida (9-1), USC (8-1) and Arkansas (9-1).
Streak’s over for Woods
Tiger Woods failed to win a 72-hole tournament for the first time since July 9, finishing two shots behind Yong-eun Yang in the HSBC Champions on Sunday in China. The loss ended his streak of stroke-play victories, dating to his runner-up finish to Trevor Immelman on July 9 in the Western Open.
