I LOVE …
… the delicious aromas upon entering Once Upon a Bagel (1888 1st St.) in Highland Park. They make the bagels on site and have a deli/lunch counter.
–Celeste Burke, Highland Park
… Western-style metal soup spoons at Thai restaurants. All the better to slurp up every last drop of red curry.
–Bill Daley, food and wine reporter
… the complimentary booster cushions at the LaSalle Bank Theatre. Perfect for little girls whose Grandmas paid big bucks for them to SEE a play together.
–Kim Dietz, St. Charles
I HATE …
… when you order a pint and it arrives with the beer an inch below the top of the glass–it’s like somebody took a big gulp out of it.
–Jeff Reiter, Glen Ellyn
… restaurants that ignore the child at the table by shorting you one place setting and one glass of water. She may be 3 but she does need to eat.
–Julie Sznewajs, Chicago
… to see parents put their kids on their lap at the theater. The person behind them can not see and a seat paid for sits empty.
–Kim Dietz, St. Charles
