I am here this holiday season among those I love because of the expertise and caring of strangers–the Chicago 911 personnel. Following a fall at home, I called for help and within minutes, the Chicago paramedics had arrived. After a month in the hospital and a nursing home, I am back at home, and in the richness of this Thanksgiving season, I will give great thanks for those strangers who proved to be such worthy stewards of life itself.
