This letter is in response to the letter writer who stated: “I believe that Christians should boycott any store, media, etc., that uses the phrase “Happy Holidays” rather than “Merry Christmas” (Voice of the people, Nov. 28).
I wish this man would take his head out of the sand and realize that during this time of year, many religions are celebrating their own holidays–not just the Christians.
I, for one, am a Jewish woman who celebrates Hanukkah with my family and friends. Most of the time, Hanukkah and Christmas overlap each other.
When I walk into a store, or listen to the media, I appreciate the “Happy Holidays” greeting, as opposed to “Merry Christmas.”
While we are celebrating our own holidays, it would be nice if we could acknowledge the holidays that others celebrate.
