This is regarding “Task force proposes new curbs for teens; Lengthening learner’s permit period is key” (Metro, Dec. 20, part of “Teens at the wheel; A yearlong search for solutions to teen-driving fatalities”).

Secretary of State Jesse White and his task force should consider extending the age at which a person could receive a driver’s license to 17, along with the requirement of a high school diploma.

We may not only see teen death rates fall but high school dropout rates as well.
