Bernard A. Olszewski, 87, of Fox Lake, IL, formerly of Wildwood and Ft. Myers, FL, passed away on Wednesday, Jan. 10, 2007 at home. He was born April 1, 1919 in Chicago, IL. On Oct. 6, 1946, he married Irene, nee Guzniczak, in Chicago. He was a clerk for many years at Sinclair oil in Waukegan and retired from Graham Oil Co. in 1979. John was a veteran of WW II having served with the U.S. Army and was a POW in Germany. He was awarded the American Defense Service Ribbon and the Eame Service Ribbon with 2 Bronze Stars. He was also a member of the American Ex-Prisoners of War in Ft. Myers SW Florida Chapter #100. He is survived by his wife Irene, nee Guzniczak; children, Eileen (William) Lechner of Clermont, FL, Bernard Jr. (Karen) of Antioch, IL, Gerald Olszewski of Wildwood, IL, Marcella (Richard) Francisco of Gurnee, IL and Allan (Susan) of Ingleside, IL; five grandchildren, Elizabeth Lechner, Thomas Lechner, Kevin Olszewski, Megan Olszewski, Daniel Olszewski; and one sister, Josephine Wood of Nokomis, FL. He was preceded in death by one brother, Henry and one sister, Victoria Ravitch. Visitation will be held on Friday, Jan. 12, 2007 from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Salata-Gurnee Funeral Home,4190 Old Grand Ave., Gurnee, IL. Mass will be Saturday, Jan. 13, 2007 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Paul the Apostle Church, 6401 Gages Lake Rd., Gurnee, IL with interment to follow at Highland Memorial Park in Libertyville.
