No more troops in Iraq

A friend of mine and I were talking about the war in Iraq Tuesday night, and he said very simply: “I don’t agree with the war. We should have pulled out a long time ago. However, now we are in too deep–we can’t pull out, but sending more troops is suicide.” (“More troops, more backlash,” Jan. 10 cover story.)

I agree with him. The war has been pointless, but now it is too late and we cannot pull out. But we can’t afford to send more.

As for the $1 billion to help Iraq’s economy, no way! What about our economy? We have spent too much as it is in resources, lives and money. That has hurt our economy enough.
