Stanley Ray Patton, of Western Springs, IL, passed away at his residence on Wednesday, Jan., 10, 2007. Mr. Patton was born on May 3, 1922, in Hardinsburg, IN to Clyde Ernest Patton and Bess Turley. He is survived by his sister, Doris Allen of Salem, IN; five of his seven children, Timothy (Maureen), Molly (John Aguila) Patton, Peter (Diane), Mary (Robert) Reedy and Amy (Patrick) Campanelli; his 10 grandchildren, Adam and Timothy Patton, Noel Warren, Matthew and Casey Patton, Caroline and Samantha Reedy and Paul, Annabelle and Emily Campanelli. He was predeceased by daughters, Julie and Emily. He was married on Sept. 7, 1946 to Florence Mary Hodde. He received a degree in Business Management at Indiana University in 1943 and soon after entered the U.S. Navy and was a decorated officer aboard the USS PGM-26 in the Pacific Theatre. After returning from WWII, he went to work for the Univac Corporation in Detroit, MI. In 1961 he moved to Chicago and took a position as Director of Data Processing for the Chicago Board of Education, where he was responsible for creating and implementing the first “total information management system” for the Chicago City School System. He survived a bout with cancer in 1993 with a recurrence in 2006, eventually leading to his death. During his later years he became actively involved in his local church and V.F.W. volunteer activities, along with the enduring love and support for his children, grandchildren and wife, Florence, who passed away unexpectedly in 2005. Funeral Mass is planned for Monday, Jan. 15 at 9:30 a.m. at St. John of the Cross Catholic Church in Western Springs. Interment Queen of Heaven Cemetery.
