Among the new commercial shows rumored for Chicago are “The Kid From Brooklyn: The Danny Kaye Story,” a biographical piece about the life of the legendary entertainer, and “Sister Bernie’s Bingo Bash,” an interactive entertainment in the “Nunsense” style. … Chicago will be getting a new tented performance venue this summer. Known as “The Spiegeltent,” the canvas will be pitched in Chicago at a date and location yet to be announced. The tent will feature circus, magic, music and a variety of neo-vaudeville attractions. … Steppenwolf ensemble member K. Todd Freeman is headed for the Chicago cast of “Wicked.” Freeman, who has been on the national tour with the mega-hit musical, is expected to join the Chicago cast around the end of the month. … No firm details are available about out-of-town tryout plans for the Mel Brooks musical “Young Frankenstein.” Although the show was initially expected to begin in Chicago, it is now considering a start in Seattle. … Hot Tix is hardly a secret, but many shows are available at half-price through the Hot Tix online program. The show is headed here at the end of the month. … The Scrap Mettle SOUL and Shadow F/X Films’ production of “The Snow Queen,” (this is not the Victory Gardens version, but a new musical with book and lyrics by William Coyne and score by Karl Mansfield) has been held over. The extended run begins Jan. 19 in The New Theatre at Ravenswood Fellowship United Methodist Church, 4511 N. Hermitage Ave.
