As a golf fan it was sad that neither Tiger Woods nor Phil Mickelson played in the season-opening Mercedes tournament. Jim Furyk and Vijay Singh play more often, certainly help the gate and bring quality to the field, but if Buick and Ford weren’t sponsors of Woods and Mickelson, they’d have been there.
