Charles E. “Chuck” Bennett, Sr., an 84-year-old resident of Grayslake, died Friday, Jan. 12, 2007, at Wauconda Healthcare and Rehabilitation Centre. Born Sept. 22, 1922, in Chicago, to Fred and Eva Bennett. Chuck was a member of the US Air Force, serving in WWII; he was a member of St. Mary’s of the Annunciation Catholic Church; the Club 55 bowling league; and a member of Sheet Metal Union Local 73. Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Mabel Bennett; his children, Judi (Tony) Majcher, Jared (Pam) Bennett, Christine Brown, Debbie (Joe) Sorgani, Mary Bennett, and Chuck (Barb) Bennett, Jr.; his grandchildren Debbie, David, Tony, Paul, Scott, Tom, Jason, Amanda, and Brittany; and his nine great-grandchildren. His aforementioned parents, brother Fred, and sister Evelyn, all preceded him in death. A funeral Mass is scheduled for 11:30 a.m., Wednesday, Jan. 17, at St. Mary of the Annunciation Catholic Church, 22333 W Erhart Rd, Mundelein, IL 60060. Interment will be privately held. Friends of the family may visit from 3 to 9 p.m., Tuesday, Jan. 16, 2007, at Strang Funeral Chapel & Crematorium, 410 E Belvidere Rd, Grayslake, IL 60030. A visitation will also be held from 10:30 a.m. until 11:30 a.m. on Wednesday, at the church.
