Maureen A. Cain, nee Sweeney,70, passed away Friday, Dec. 29, 2006. Maureen was the loving mother of Dr. Mary (Fernando) Cain-Ornelas, Martin Cain, and Ann Cain; and proud grandmother of Daniel Ornelas; she was preceded in death by her parents, Michael and Mary Sweeney; she was the sister of Kathleen (Robert) Martin, Eileen Sweeney, Michael (Darlene) Sweeney, Nancy Sweeney, and Patricia Fisher; sister-in-law to Nancy Jean (Ed) Jahrke; she had many caring nieces, nephews and cousins. Her career span included work in Law, real estate sales, and education. Maureen was a graduate of Mundelein College, had a Masters in speech from Northeastern University, and a JD degree from Kent Law School. After graduating from law school, she worked for the Illinois Attorney General’s Office. She later started a private law practice , and she also taught real estate courses for the Chicago Association of Realtors. In lieu of flowers memorials in Maureen’s honor may be made to the American Lung Association, P.O. Box 7000, Albert Lea, MN 56007-8000, or Misericordia Home, 6300 N. Ridge Ave, Chicago, IL 60660. Until her recent illness, Maureen enjoyed life fully and her family and friends will be remembering her at a Memorial Mass at 4 p.m. on Monday, January 15, 2007 at St. Zachary’s Church, 567 W. Algonquin Rd. in DesPlaines. A visitation hour with the family is planned for 3 p.m. Following the Mass there will be an open house celebration of Maureen’s life at Giuseppe’s La Cantina, 1062 Lee St., DesPlaines from 5:30 to 9:30 p.m. or call 773-338-8085.
