The Chicago Chapter of the Organization of Women in International Trade presents “2007: The World of Trade–Looking Ahead Five Years After 9/11.”
The breakfast meeting will be held 7:30 to 9:30 a.m. Thursday at the Tooling and Manufacturing Association, 1177 S. Dee Rd., Park Ridge.
Karen Lobdell, a global trade and supply-chain specialist and licensed customs broker with Gardner Carton & Douglas LLP, will be the speaker. The program will address the plans and programs of U.S. Customs and Border Protection in 2007 and review what was covered at the 2006 Annual Customs and Border Protection Symposium, which took place in December in Washington, D.C. Topics will include partnership programs and initiatives, trade resumption, trade compliance and the new office of trade.
Lobdell has served in the domestic and international logistics industry for 21 years. Since the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks she has been directly involved with Homeland Security processes as they apply to internal and external supply-chain security concerns focusing on government regulations, policies and initiatives that affect customers operating in the international markets.
The cost to attend is $35 for members and $45 for non-members. To register, send an e-mail to owitchicago@yahoo.com, or visit www.owitchicago.org/events/event(underscore)registration.htm.
