Unfortunately, the only proper solution to our presence in Iraq is the following:
1. Cut.
2. Run.
It’s an embarrassing solution, but this whole war has been an embarrassment from the start, and is more embarrassing every day. Unfortunately, the U.S. is and has always been the problem in Iraq. I challenge anyone to think of one thing the U.S. presence there has done to benefit Iraq in the long term (and orchestrating U.S. control of 75 percent of Iraq’s oil wells doesn’t count).
