Most players on the L.A. Galaxy were excited when they heard David Beckham (right) would be joining them this season. But Quavas Kirk’s response was a little different. In an interview on ussoccer.com, Kirk’s initial reaction was, “Oh my god, he’s going to take my number!”
The native of Aurora wears the No. 23 for the Galaxy.
Beckham told ESPN’s “Cold Pizza” he expects to wear the number in honor of Michael Jordan. “Hopefully we can talk this out,” said Kirk, 18. “I came to the Galaxy with the No. 23.”
What if the Galaxy gives Kirk another number?
“I would be very upset–I’m just going to come back with my old jersey and stick it in my locker,” he joked. “[Beckham] doesn’t know who I am, but hopefully he comes and talks to me. That would make everything smooth.”
