Terrorists exploded a nuclear bomb in L.A. As thousands likely died, all Jack could do was stare at the mushroom cloud forming over the city.
It was downright shocking, considering so much of the Fox premiere seemed so possible. There were smaller terror attacks, a backlash against Muslims and the trampling of civil liberties–all real-life issues the U.S. has faced since 9/11. And we’re only at the end of Hour 4 of 20 this season.
What bigger catastrophe could possibly befall our hero? What will the fallout of the bombing be in L.A.? Is Jack now in a race to stop the terrorists before they strike again, or before he dies of radiation poisoning? Has the show gone too far into reality?
