– Steve Wilkos, a former Chicago police officer turned security guard on “The Jerry Springer Show,” is getting his own daytime talk gig. For the past two seasons, Wilkos has regularly filled in as host for Springer. Wilkos’ yet-to-be-titled show will be filmed in Chicago and will air on Tribune Co.-owned WGN-Ch. 9. Tribune Co. also owns the Chicago Tribune.

– A formal inquiry into the death of Anna Nicole Smith’s 20-year-old son, Daniel Smith, has been scheduled for March 27 in the Bahamas, the chief magistrate said Tuesday.

– Michael J. Fox, whose advocacy ads created a stir in last fall’s elections, will attend President Bush’s State of the Union address next week as a guest of Rhode Island Rep. Jim Langevin. Langevin, who is confined to a wheelchair, is a sponsor of a stem cell research bill. Fox has Parkinson’s disease.

– Another Miss USA tiara is changing heads. Ashley Harder, Miss New Jersey USA, has resigned because she is pregnant, The Philadelphia Daily News reported Monday. It’s against pageant rules to compete while pregnant.

– Nick Lachey, 33, and Eva Mendes, 28, have been named Fun Fearless Male and Female of the Year by Cosmopolitan magazine. The stars grace a double cover in the magazine’s February issue. Mendes is pictured on the front wearing a sky blue dress followed by a second cover featuring Lachey in a button-down shirt and jeans.
