Back by popular demand: the Celebrity Excesses Edition. Here we go:
PEOPLE: Have peroxide, will travel! Celebrity color guru Rita Hazan hops a jet for $5,000 to bring clients the honey-blond hues their follicles are crying out for (“Living Color”; Page 108). Hazan did the new golden tresses that Britney Spears debuted on “Late Night With David Letterman” recently; she has also done Jessica Simpson, Brooke Shields, Shakira and other celeb manes.
Hazan commandeers a new, 6,000-square-foot salon on 5th Avenue in New York, but look for her star to rise even higher (Gap ad? Luke Wilson’s next girlfriend?). This gal’s got the sound bites to survive in the dog-eat-dog world of blond highlights: “Roots happen,” the traveling colorist says, “no matter where you are.”
US WEEKLY: Katie Holmes dropped more than $200,000 at the Beverly Hills Barneys New York store in 2006, says a source (“$200K Spree”; Page 46). “She walks around with a personal assistant and points at what she wants,” the source says. “She’s their favorite customer!”
But will Katie get bumped from the top spot once uber-fashionista Victoria Beckham hits town? The former Spice Girl became Katie’s official enabler last year when she took Mrs. Cruise to the London couture shows — and she’s not shy about dropping a dime.
Already she’s planning a $750,000 party to announce her L.A. arrival — with husband David, who signed a “a $250 million-ish” contract with the L.A. Galaxy soccer team. At the British-themed bash, reports London’s Daily Mail, valets will wear Beefeaters costumes. The caterers will serve roast beef and Yorkshire pudding. Jennifer Lopez will perform. It’s just tacky enough to make Us Weekly’s cover.
L&S: On-and-off lovebirds Heather Locklear and David Spade have high hopes for their relationship, it seems. It’s only January, but they’ve already locked up a $40,000-a-month summer rental on the beach in Malibu. They’re splitting the rent down the middle, according to the source, so it’s practically peanuts.
IN TOUCH: Long after a breakup, there is that problem of how to dispose of those last reminders of a lost love: the photographs, the Valentines . . . the $300,000 Bentley. The latter was Ben Affleck’s problem: J.Lo gave him the wheels in 2002, when he famously fell in love with her. But now he’s happily married to Jennifer Garner, and she won’t set foot in the car. Affleck thought he might auction it off for charity. But dreading the publicity, he sold the Bentley to a private collector and gave the proceeds to a Boston children’s hospital.
