Sig “Sig!” Grinko continued his heavenly ascent on Tuesday, Jan. 16, 2007, accompanied by his children. He started his journey “up the mountain” on Sept. 30, 1924 in Chicago, IL and spent the last 15 years in Scottsdale, AZ. He was preceded in death by his wife Marie, nee Seno and is survived by his children, Trish (Greg) Stark, Peggy (Doug) Schmuldt and Bob (Jennifer) Grinko. Sig was very proud of his five grandchildren, Stephen, Daniel, Matthew, Dylan and Jillian Marie. To his family, he was father, granddad, teacher and friend. He was a leader and mentor to many, and prided himself on “grinkoizing” those who sought his cousel. Sig’s passions included gardening, art and cattle-ranching. He found the most joy in watching and supporting his family climb their individual mountains. We will dearly miss him, his wit and sage advice. We are forever indebted and cherish our time together. Funeral Monday, 9:30 a.m. at Salerno’s Rosedale Chapels, 450 West Lake Street, Roselle (3/4 mile west of Bloomingdale/Roselle Road). Chapel service 10:30 a.m. He will be layed to rest next to his wife Marie at Queen of Heaven Cemetery, Hillside. Visitation Sunday, 5 to 9 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Seasons Hospice, Park Ridge, IL. For info, 630-889-1700.
