Sharon Moderwell, 66, of Gages Lake died Jan. 15, 2007 at home after battling cancer. One of eight children she was born Aug. 15, 1940 at home on a farm near Monona in northeastern Iowa, and attended a one-room schoolhouse through 8th grade. She moved to the Waukegan area in the late 1950s and married Marshall Chrablow. They had three children. Sharon worked as an executive secretary for many years. After her first husband died, she married John C. Moderwell in 1988. Following retirement, she dedicated her life to her extended family and to volunteer work. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Libertyville, Chicago Botanic Garden, a Lake County Master Gardener and a former member of the Waukegan Yacht Club. Sharon is preceded in death by her parents, Walter and Elsie (Kliefoth) Drahn; her sisters, Leola McComis and Georgene Schupbach. She is survived by her husband John; two daughters Rebelle (Mark) Kinsella and Roxanne (Bryan) McGinn; one son, Kyle; two sisters Dolores (the late Richard) Olds and Elaine (William) Possehl; three brothers, Robert (Dorla), Keith (Joyce), and William (Carolyn); four grandchildren Nicholas, Ethan Kinsella, Learon and Teague McGinn; her step-children Julie (Mike) Urban, Charles (Lisa) Moderwell and John W. (Jane) Moderwell; grandchildren Nicholas and Alyssa Urban, Jennie, John II, Matthew, Grace, Luke, Nathan, Elise, Jesse and Noah Moderwell. Memorial service will be 11 a.m., January 26 at First Presbyterian Church of Libertyville. Contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
