– Oprah Winfrey says in the February issue of her magazine that she cried for three days when a relative told the National Enquirer in 1990 that Winfrey became pregnant at 14 and lost the baby after birth. She says she learned something from what she calls “that first betrayal.” Having the secret out was “liberating” and let her begin to heal from the sexual abuse she said she endured as a girl.

– “American Idol” judges Simon Cowell, Randy Jackson and Paula Abdul say that they’re no crueler than usual this year, and that people who audition should know what they’re going to get. “If you don’t want to hear that, don’t show up,” Cowell told television writers at a news conference Saturday.
