I enjoyed Barbara Mahany’s article [“You Need to Be There at That Time,” Jan. 7].
Back in the ’70s, while serving as a divisional sales manager for an industrial firm, I was provided with the Day-Timer system. A few years ago a woman I met in a graduate class at the University of Illinois at Chicago gave me a Palm Pilot for my birthday. Since the woman was one of the most intelligent people I had met in six decades, I used the Palm Pilot for three months. It was adequate but saved no time. When the technical support ran out, I returned to the Day-Timer.
Sometimes simpler is better. I can’t time a fastball, but the digital alarms on my watch and cell phone serve as reminders.

Even though I spend my days as the “Master Simplifier” (a professional organizer with a Web site, getwhitespace.com), and have a staff of hip 20- to 30-somethings, I am an avowed paper girl too!
I schedule in my Outlook and print my priceless paper calendar to satisfy my visual need to see my life laid out before me.
Thank you for reaffirming that we are not all electronic wizards and still manage to stay on top of a full life.
