Mary Ellen Sly, nee Liston, 89, died at home on Jan. 18, 2007. Preceded in death by a granddaughter, Mary Ellen Bell; and brother, James Liston; she is survived by her five children, Mary Jane (Rod) Chisholm, Roberta (Bill) Bell, Regina (Bruce) Bradley, Carl (Jennifer) Sly, and Robert (Nancy) Sly; 13 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. Mary Ellen was born and raised in Chicago, graduated form DePaul University and Chicago Teachers College. She taught high school English, until her marriage to Dr. Robert Sly in 1946. Mary Ellen and Bob raised their children in Dearborn, MI. She later moved to Texas to live with her oldest daughter.
