Joan E. Smith, nee Holek,died suddenly on Jan. 8, 2007 at home in Rock Island, IL, born July 19, 1946, she married Larry Smith on March 11, 1982. Joan was a talented and creative individual who enjoyed a dancing career, sewed beautifully, was an avid gardener and created many stained glass works of art. Joan was also a cosmetologist and later, a homemaker. The daughter of Joseph F. and Marion C. Holek; she is survived by her husband Larry; mother of Marion Holek of Carol Stream, IL; sister of Adrienne Holek of Hanover Park, IL, Marion Bardill of West Chicago, IL, and Maria Messina; she is preceded in death by her father Joseph and son Anthony. Joan will be greatly missed by family and friends and will be forever remembered with love. Arrangements were made by WheelanFuneral Home, 520 18th St, Rock Island, IL 309-786-5421.
