GPS FOR MARINERS
The U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary Flotilla 3-5 Waukegan offers a GPS for mariners course Jan. 27. The class, which starts at 9 a.m., is held at Flotilla headquarters, 9 Harbor Pl., Waukegan. DOG DAY
The National Safety Council launches its 2nd annual Seemore Safety Campaign Feb. 2 with a reminder to drivers the change wiper blades at least once a year. According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, adverse environmental conditions — including lighting, road surface conditions and atmospheric conditions — contribute to more than 70 percent of crashes. A nationwide survey found that one out of three drivers fail to routinely change their wiper blades. Visit www.nsc.org.
CHICAGO AUTO SHOW
The 98th annual Chicago Auto Show runs from Feb. 9 through 18 in McCormick Place North and South. Hours are 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. Feb. 9-17 and 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Feb. 18. Admission for the event, which features some 1,000 cars and trucks, a Chrysler test track and entertainment, is $10 for adults, $5 for seniors 62 and older and children 7 to 12 and free for kids younger than 7 accompanied by a paid adult.
