I LOVE …
… Soldier Field in the snow!
— Regina Mundt , Chicago
… chicken pot pies from the Paulina Meat Market (3501 N. Lincoln Ave.) in Lakeview. Everything they sell is terrific, but the pot pies are absolutely scrumptious, especially on a cold winter night. How can you not like a butcher that distributes “Take a Ticket” numbers from a giant, plastic pig head?
–Mike Horowitz, Chicago
… the free human body bubble maker and the free Pac Man game at Abt (1200 N. Milwaukee Ave.) in Glenview. They make shopping for a dishwasher with my parents way more fun!
–Matteo Curley, age 8, Chicago
… the lunch buffet at India House (59 W. Grand Ave.). It’s unbelievable!
–Andrew Kates, Chicago
I HATE …
… although 99.9 percent of my customers are loving, thoughtful, respectful people, others put their purses or hats(!) on an adjoining table, show up without a reservation and a baby buggy as big as a HUMMER and want to put it right next to their table and bring super-duper-sized coffee drinks to breakfast. OK, I’m finished kvetching.
–Ina Pinkney, chef/owner of Ina’s, Chicago
… servers at restaurants who tell you what their personal favorites are, even though you didn’t ask.
–Steve Kramer, Algonquin
… radio commercials with the abnormally fast-talking legal disclaimers at the end. It’s an epidemic!
–Al Ribskis, Chicago
