LAKE FOREST

Students from Lake Forest Academy recently participated in the We the People competition at Hamburger University in Oak Brook. The group took second place in the state behind Maine South High School in Park Ridge. The following students participated: Lyndley Baldwin, Charles Blackwell, Alanna Dillon, Blair Gordon, Dustin Holloway, Alexandra Jones, Doug Kaplan, Nick Krislov, Andy Miller, Caroline Reyes, Marty Rosenbaum, Stacy Snow and Leo Sokolov. NORTHBROOK AND GLENVIEW, DISTRICT 30

Linda J. Vieth, superintendent of schools, has accepted the position of superintendent at Sunset Ridge District 29 in Northfield. Vieth’s last day at District 30 will be June 29. Vieth joined District 30 as assistant superintendent in 2001. She had been elementary school principal and assistant superintendent at Sunset Ridge for 10 years.

Samantha Lumley, a senior at Niles North High School, has signed a letter of intent to play basketball at Quincy University in Quincy, Ill.

Miguel (Mike) Cortez, quarterback for Niles North High School, has been named to the 2006 All State Academic Team for class 7A by the Illinois High School Football Coaches Association.
