Martin Zeno sank a free throw with 24.9 seconds remaining to lift Texas Tech over No. 6 Texas A&M 70-68 on Wednesday night, giving the host Red Raiders their second straight win over a Top 10 team. Tech (15-5, 4-1 Big 12) hit only one field goal in the final 10:11 of the game, but hit on 13-of-18 free throws. Tech beat then-No. 5 Kansas 69-64 Saturday. . . . Corey Brewer scored 20 points, including five during a game-turning 10-1 run early in the second half, and No. 1 Florida survived a scary SEC road game by beating Mississippi State 70-67. The Gators (18-2, 5-0) won their 11th straight.
– Wayne Ellington scored 18 points, fellow freshman Ty Lawson added all 15 of his in the second half and No. 4 North Carolina routed host Wake Forest 88-60. Tyler Hansbrough added 13 points for the Tar Heels (18-2, 5-1 ACC). Carolina is 3-6 in their last nine meetings with Wake Forest. . . . Levance Fields made a career-high six three-pointers, leading a long-range spree that carried No. 9 Pittsburgh (18-3, 6-1 Big East) to a 67-51 win over Cincinnati. Pitt was 12 of 19 on three pointers. . . . Brandon Rush scored 18 points and No. 8 Kansas (17-3, 4-1 Big 12) held Baylor to three points in the first 11 minutes to cruise to an 82-56 win. Baylor coach Scott Drew was courtside a little more than 24 hours after having an appendectomy.
– Western Carolina starting point guard Kyle Greathouse was in critical condition Wednesday in Cullowhee, N.C., after the car in which he was a passenger hit a tree and ran into a river.
