Katie Holmes’ return to the big screen has hit a speed bump.

She is not going to reprise her role as Rachel Dawes in the “Batman Begins” sequel, “The Dark Knight,” The Wall Street Journal reports.

Her spokeswoman, Julie Polkes, cited “scheduling conflicts” as the reason Holmes didn’t accept the role.

“She was in the process of negotiating for another project. In addition, when she returns to work, she would like to tackle a new character,” Julie Polkes said.

Holmes reportedly is leaning toward a role in “Mad Money,” a comedy about three female Federal Reserve workers trying to pocket old money before it is destroyed. She’ll likely make about $250,000 for the flick, a serious pay cut from the $1 million to $2 million she could have made for the “Batman” sequel, sources told the Journal.

Perhaps there’s room for only one action franchise in the TomKat family.
