Football pools based on scoring are a staple of a Super Bowl party. But anyone can do that. Here is At Play’s Game/Commercial Pool, which requires little or no football acumen, but is sure to dazzle your guests.
The rules
1. Cut out this handy grid.
2. Get a pen.
3. Sell squares to guests (for $1 each, perhaps).
4. Participants then write their names in the squares chosen. Fill all squares.
5. Enjoy the game and, just as important, the commercials.
6. Watch for the game events listed, and then watch for the subsequent commercials. Then check where the event and the ad intersect on the grid; the person who owns that square wins that row (and $7 on a $1 bet). For instance, if the first ad after the first TD is for beer, whoever owns that upper left square wins.
7. Keep playing until the first commercial after the last game event takes place.
