No. 16 Thornwood suffered its second lopsided defeat of the week, falling to No. 10 Thornton 81-55 in Harvey on Friday night.

The Thunderbirds (18-5, 8-2) lost to Homewood-Flossmoor by a similar margin Wednesday night.

What is going on with Thornwood?

“To be honest, these two games didn’t really mean anything,” team leader Trey Blue said after coming off the bench and scoring six points. “We just went out to see what these teams had, and we give them credit: They had a lot of energy.

“We’re always positive, and I’m not worried. We know what wins games during playoff time.”

For the second game in succession, seniors Blue and Reggie Hamilton (team-high 14 points, 12 in the fourth quarter) didn’t start.

Mustapha Farrakhan led Thornton with 25 points.
