Richard E. Maloblocki, died after a long bout with cancer. Born March 1, 1928 in Chicago, the youngest of seven children, graduated from Mt. Carmel H.S., awarded a football scholarship to Arizona State University and served in the 82nd Airborne. He began a career in the construction industry becoming vice president of Harry Thompson Inc., started his own company r. Maloblocki & Associates and made Canonie Inc. into a major player in marine construction. He was awarded lifetime membership in the American Society of Civil Engineers of his achievements. A devoted family man with numerous friends worldwide, he touched everyone he met and will be sorely missed. He is survived by his children James, John (Birgitta), and Diane (Art) Janura; grandchildren Kelly, Peter, Brian, Steven, Ethan, and Blake; Virginia, the mother of his children; sisters Joan and Emily; and many nieces and nephews.
