I LOVE . . .
… homeowners and businesses who shovel their sidewalks so pedestrians can actually use the sidewalks and not the streets. Better yet are the kind people who shovel a little past their own properties to make life easier for “walkers.”
–Kathleen Melia, Chicago
… the Elmhurst Public Library (125 S. Prospect Ave.), complete with a drive-up “drop-off” and “pick-up” window and a LavAzza coffee shop inside.
–Kathryn C. Johnson, Elmhurst
… the meatballs at Davino’s (1217 W. Fullerton Ave.) near DePaul [that] are to die for. But don’t die, then you can’t eat anymore.
–Bob Kingsley, Lake Forest
I HATE . . .
… paying $30 for a main course … and just getting meat without a side or two. You end up having to order sides (which are often too big anyway). For that amount of money, why can’t the restaurant give you a small potato and a bit of veggies?
–Sandra Bartusiak Pierce, Shorewood
… that the 54th/Cermak Blue Line has decreased service and those trains are always late.
–Steve Buttes, Chicago
… takeout places that pack food in flimsy containers then put the food in a sack so if you carry it by the handles, sauce leaks into the sack and onto the napkins.
–April Wilson, Chicago
