This is in response to “Scores stagnant at high schools; 2nd day of testing brushed off, some say” (Page 1, March 13). The students of Illinois have sent the educators of Illinois a powerful message: “Your Prairie State Achievement Examination means nothing to us.” Classroom teachers have known this all along. Do educators really think students are going to do well on a meaningless test just because it’s the right thing to do?

Give them perks! For example, if students exceed standards on all PSAE tests, give them a grant to apply toward furthering their education.
