Charles V. Giannone, aka Charles Cannon, 85, of Chicago, passed away unexpectedly on April 30, 2007, he was born at home at Taylor St. and May St. in Chicago. Coming from a newspaper family, he worked at the Chicago Tribune; focusing on entertainment, he wrote for the Chicago Herald American, Hearst Publications and Pioneer Press. He enjoyed the circus, theatre and good restaurants. An avid sports fan, he also was a sports writer. Mr. Giannone was a U.S. Army Veteran serving during WWII. He was a member of Our Lady of Ransom Parish, Niles. He is the beloved husband of Gigi (Gigi’s Dolls and Sherry’s Teddy Bears) for 7 years and the late Alice, nee Mariotti; dear father of Mary Ann Brown, Renee Gillen, Charles (Sharon), Joseph (Susan), Sherry (Gary) Baloun and Carey (Cigdem) Williams; loving grandfather of Ryan, Scott, Taylor, Lana, Danny, Brian, Jason, Jeremiah, Joshua, Anna (Charles) Hanrahan and Maya Tunar; great grandfather of Ayden; brother of Sr. Deborah and the late Agnes, Mathilda Serpa, Mike, Nicky and John. Visitation Friday 10 a.m. until time of service 1:30 p.m. at Nelson Funeral Home, 820 Talcott Road (at Cumberland), Park Ridge. Interment Ridgewood Cemetery.
