Robert Sutton Saalfield III, 64, died on May 1 2007 at home in St. Simons Island, GA, he is survived by his wife, Judy Saalfield; daughters, Robin Hungler of Wilmette, IL, and Carolyn Hawley of New York, NY; mother Betty Silver of St. Simons Island; and grandchildren Windley Knowlton, Charles Hungler and Jane Hungler. Mr. Saalfield was born in New York, NY on Dec. 17, 1942. He graduated from Buchtel High School in Akron, OH. Mr. Saalfield received his Bachelor of Communications from Kent State University where he was a member of Phi Gamma Delta fraternity. He went on to obtain a Master of Communications from Syracuse University. Mr. Saalfield moved to the Chicago area in 1968 to pursue a career in advertising. He had a long and successful career in radio and television ad sales working for such firms as Leo Burnett, Metromedia, WGN Television and Fox Sports before retiring in 1998. Mr. Saalfield spent his last years in St. Simons Island, GA, where he was a member of the Sea Island Club, an avid golfer and international traveler. A private interment took place Friday, May 4, 2007 at Christ Church Cemetery, followed by a memorial service at the First Baptist Church of St. Simons Island.
