Getting your Trinity Audio player ready...

The computer put morning-line favorite CURLIN second primarily because of his lack of class. He has a little more than half the earnings of STREET SENSE, but he has accumulated those winnings in just three races. Speed is pretty well spread out across the field, indicating no obvious early pace-setter. The small edge that does exist goes to HARD SPUN, STORMELLO and LIQUIDITY. The computer awarded the best last score to Scat Daddy for his performance in the Florida Derby. He looks like a very bettable overlay at 10-1. This year, my human intuition is aligned with my dispassionate machine. I believe Street Sense entered his 3-year-old season way ahead of his peers and has shown no letdowns to indicate they have closed the gap. I will box Street Sense, CIRCULAR QUAY, SCAT DADDY and Hard Spun in my exacta. In my trifecta I will play Street Sense and Circular Quay with Street Sense, Circular Quay, Scat Daddy, TIAGO, and DOMINICAN.

PP, HORSE, JOCKEY, TRAINER, ODDS, SP, CL, FORM, LAST, CONN, LINE, TOTAL

SP — Early speed out of the gate; CL — Quality of company the horse has been running against; FORM — Ability to consistently hit the board; LAST — Performance over the last 50 days; CONN — Connections (jockey and trainer stats); LINE — Morning-line adjustment
