Vibrations: Cafe Brauer could barely contain the 550 guests at the fifth annual Steppenwolf Auxiliary Council’s Red or White Ball. The Lincoln Park party began with a VIP reception and ended late into the night at Saltaus on West Randolph Street. Libations: Fruity martinis, margaritas and beer hobnobbed with Hart Davis Hart Wine Co. fine wines at four tasting stations. Sommeliers assisted guests who didn’t know their red from white, but they couldn’t help those on the dance floor who, as the evening progressed, didn’t know their left from right. Donations: Raise your glasses to the more than $100,000 raised benefiting the theater’s art education program, Steppenwolf for Young Adults. Sensations: SAC co-founders Marisa Bryce and Nora Daley Conroy, and honorary ball co-chair and new ensemble member Alana Arenas. Arenas gave the theater national exposure with her portrayal of Pecola Breedlove in Young Adults’ production of Toni Morrison’s “The Bluest Eye,” said David New, the ensemble’s associate artistic director.
