Vassi Adamides, 74, passed peacefully May 3, after a long illness. Born Aug. 30, 1932 in New Bedford, MA, Ms. Adamides spent most of her adult life in Chicago. She served in the US Army for two years, after which she attended the University of Illinois at Urbana on the GI bill and received a bachelor’s degree in social work. She received a Master of Arts in Social Service Administration from the University of Chicago in 1964. She worked in public school, social work and later, as a hospice social worker. She also was an active real estate broker for many years. Ms. Adamides is survived by her loving family, two sisters, Tina Demers and Pauline Costa of Newport, RI and New Bedford, MA, respectively, and a brother John Querim, of New York City; she was the beloved friend of many, especially Jeanne Balke, Karen Connell, Jan Forrest, Arlene Goldberg, Ella Jenkins, Annarose Palumbo, and Bernadelle Richter.
