Tete a tete

Your friends say you have a big head, but it’s nothing compared to “La Cabeza,” the giant skull inside the Garfield Park Conservatory. The noggin is part of new outdoor installation “Niki in the Garden,” featuring more than 30 sculptures by French artist Niki de Saint Phalle. The colorful mosaic works also take the form of animals, totems, sports heroes and more. 9 a.m. daily. Continues through Oct. 31. $5. Garfield Park Conservatory, 300 N. Central Park Ave. 312-746-5100.

Live the dream

You directed and starred in your own boozy weekend epic, thanks to Cinco de Mayo and Derby Day. Now let someone else take the stage. Settle in for the dramatic short story “Eyes Wide Open,” directed by Steppenwolf’s Edward Sobel. The story reflects on the “Stuff of Dreams” theme of the Stories on Stage series. 7:30 p.m. $20. Tickets: steppenwolf.org. Steppenwolf Theatre Company, 1650 N. Halsted St. 312-335-1650.

Serious study

Chicago and improv go together like, well … you and barstools. (That is to say, quite well.) Learn about our city’s comic tradition in “Something From Nothing.” The show, developed from interviews with local comedy vets, imagines a group of up-and-coming comics during Chicago’s 1985 improv explosion. 8 p.m. Through May 16. $10. The Improv as Theatre Initiative at the Apollo Theater, 2540 N. Lincoln Ave. 773-935-6100.

Hash ‘n’ legs

You love a good cultural celebration … especially when beer is involved. Join the Chicago Hash House Harriers for the annual Polish Constitution Day Hash, a fun run of about 4 miles. Don’t think running is fun (or ever will be)? You can walk the distance — just don’t miss the cooldown with Okocim Polish beer, and for a few more bucks, a Polish buffet. 7 p.m. $6-$10.25. Czerwone Jabluszko (Red Apple) Restaurant, 3121 N. Milwaukee Ave. 312-409-2337.

A win-win

What is it with bingo? The game once relegated to the basements of VFW halls has spawned a theatrical work (“BINGO: The Winning New Musical”) and a soon-to-air TV show (“National Bingo Night”). Tap into the trend at the Museum of Contemporary Art’s final installment of Bingo/Tango, and because one craze is not enough, learn tango steps from pro dancers between games. 6 p.m. Free. 220 E. Chicago Ave. 312-280-2660.

Fondue attitude

When dinner plans fall through, all is not lost. No, you have a Plan B. Literally. Check out the new Wicker Park lounge between 6 p.m. and 1 a.m. for a $5 fondue deal: cheese with Red Hen Bakery baguette, or chocolate with Rice Krispies treats and pound cake. Also, sip $4 vodka cocktails all night. No cover. 1635 N. Milwaukee Ave. 773-252-2680.
