You snooze, you cruise
Adrian Beltre found himself the victim of a prank Sunday, one that could have been avoided if he’d kept his eyes open. The Mariners returned from Yankee Stadium to their midtown Manhattan hotel by bus, and Beltre fell asleep. When the bus arrived, he was still snoozing. His teammates disembarked quietly and let the bus depart. The driver, who had no idea he had a sleeping third baseman aboard, was taking the bus back to its garage in Queens. Fortunately for Beltre, the bus hadn’t made it farther than about a block when he awoke. He got off and walked to the hotel.

Then he apologized to the UFC for earlier remarks in which he said mixed martial arts “ain’t but a fad” featuring tattooed opponents in “a street fight.”
