WED 5/9
Super fly
Gear up for sensational summer beach reading with About Face Theatre’s production “Pulp.” The Jeff Award-winning musical comedy pays homage to lesbian pulp fiction with the story of a 1950s WAC pilot who, after a romp with a general’s daughter, heads to Chicago for adventures at a sultry ladies’ jazz club. Jessica Thebus directs. 7:30 p.m. Through May 27. $20-$40. About Face Theatre at Victory Gardens Greenhouse, 2257 N. Lincoln Ave. 773-871-3000.
Smart flicks
Take in a screening of Andrea Fine Nix and Sean Fine’s documentary “War/Dance,” part of a benefit for Human Rights Watch. The film, which follows displaced Ugandan children who participate in a national music festival, precedes Friday’s kickoff to the Human Rights Watch International Film Festival (through May 17 at Facets, 1517 W. Fullerton Ave.). The night includes dinner and a conversation with Africa scholar Elizabeth Evenson. 5:30 p.m. $75-$250. Museum of Contemporary Art, 220 E. Chicago Ave. 312-573-2450.

Not just for girls
Sure, spring weather in Chicago is unpredictable — but we’ve got our money on a steamy Thursday evening. One Hot Night features bachelors from Today’s Chicago Woman magazine’s “25 Most Wanted Men” issue, plus Latin cuisine, cocktails, beer, a performance from the Latin Street Dance Company and a silent auction. Roe Conn and Christina Filiaggi of WLS (890-AM) host. After-party at De La Costa (465 E. Illinois St.). 6 p.m. $65-$75; group tickets available. Proceeds benefit Today’s Chicago Woman Foundation. River East Art Center, 435 E. Illinois St. 312-951-7600 ext. 108.
Sweet benefits
Talk about a tantalizing trio: Wine, Women and Chocolate. The caloric windfall doubles as a benefit bash for Y-Me National Breast Cancer Organization, so go ahead — pig out on appetizers, wine, signature pink cocktails, chocolate martinis and chocolate desserts. 6 p.m. $50-$65. Bella Lounge, 1212 N. State Pkwy. 312-440-3826.
FRI 5/11
In the loop?

But Looptopia, Friday’s all-night mega-bash featuring more than 125 performances and events at 35 Loop venues, seems a bit daunting. Not sure where to start? What to pick? Don’t miss our guide Thursday in RedEye; go online now to start planning: metromix.com. 5 p.m. Various Loop locations. 312-782-9160.
