Used computer and medical equipment will be collected at the annual Assistive Technology Exchange Network computer recycling event from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday and Friday at Conyers Learning Academy, 2800 Central Rd., Rolling Meadows. The program is sponsored by United Cerebral Palsy of Greater Chicago. The recycled equipment will benefit students with disabilities. The Schaumburg Flyers will donate a percentage of the ticket proceeds from their 7:05 p.m. game May 31 to District 54 in support of the SuperKids: Powered by Books initiative. All money raised will be used to purchase books for classroom libraries. ELGIN COMMUNITY COLLEGE

Open auditions for “West Side Story” will be held from 7 to 10 p.m. Thursday and 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday in Room 284D of the Visual and Performing Arts Center, 1700 Spartan Drive, Elgin. Prepare a musical number from any Broadway show, but not from “West Side Story.” Bring a copy of sheet music; an accompanist will be provided. No taped accompaniment or a cappella singing. INVERNESS

An open house for the new middle-school program will be held at 7 p.m. Tuesday in Holy Family Catholic Academy, 2515 W. Palatine Rd. The middle school program will begin with a 6th grade class this fall, with plans to add 7th grade in the fall of 2008 and 8th grade in the fall of 2009. McHENRY COUNTY

A presentation on endangered species for home-schooled children ages 9 to 12 will be held from 9:30 to 11 a.m. Friday in the Prairieview Education Center, 2112 Behan Rd., Crystal Lake. The Oakton Community College Educational Foundation’s 30th anniversary Stardust Ball will be held Saturday in Rosewood Restaurant, 9421 W. Higgins Rd., Rosemont.
