Howard M. Smith, 82, died May 4 after a brief illness. He was the beloved son of Eleanor M. Edson; and loving father of Wendy Jean Smith and Kimberly Montana Welle. He was preceded in death by his brother, Dwight Smith Jr.; his daughters and those who love him remember him as a kind and gentle man with a generous spirit. Funeral arrangements private.
